BoxingScene.com recently spoke to Vadim Kornilov about his fighter Viktor Postol (26-0) and the recent announcement by the WBC that a purse bid has been scheduled for September 12th for a Danny Garcia-Viktor Postol fight if an agreement isn't made before that. Kornilov, who also manages former champion Ruslan Provodnikov and several other fighters, said that Garcia must step up and face Postol or relinquish his belt.
"The WBC announced on August 12th that the mandatory is set and that Danny Garcia has to defend his title against Viktor Postol. On September 12th the purse bid has been scheduled if an agreement isn't made during the negotiations period of one month . Our promoters Elite Boxing Promotions of Ukraine together with Top Rank are in contact with Golden Boy Promotions and Danny's management/advisory team about the fight. Danny Garcia has the choice to fight a competitive opponent that is actually ranked in the top of his division or he can keep on fighting the Salka type opponents but he would have to give up the belt and let Postol fight for the title with Matthysse or anybody else that the WBC orders the fight with. We are open to fighting anybody and only want to give the fans the fights they want to see," Kornilov told BoxingScene.com.
