Earlier today Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted that his fighter Kell Brook had signed his contract for a summer showdown against IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter.

According to Hearn, they are just waiting on Golden Boy Promotions to announce the date the fight will take place. August 9th was the date originally targeted with the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY hosting the fight.

That date is now off the table for the fight and Porter's father and trainer isn't so sure that Brook has actually signed his contract and believes that the lack of a signed contract is the reason they were bumped from the date.

"Good morning Ryan. I read a tweet about Brook but I believe he is stalling. I don't believe he wants this fight. Eddie Hearn's twitter says he signed, but to confirm we have not received a signed contract. I believe that is why we have been pulled from the Barclays show. I don't think they wanted to take a chance with the date being 8 weeks away," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
Riiight, its Kell that's stalling. That's why Eddie Hearn flew out to see Porter....so it would look like it wasnt them that's stalling, when really it was. That's also why they got a signed notification from the IBF confirming they would be next after Malignaggi. It was all so...
Porter's stalling because there's a more lucrative offer on the table.
Porter's stalling because he's not fighting someone who's feather fisted. All and sundry know he can't box from distance, which he'll have to do with someone that controls distance well, can punch a...

Eddie has rebutted this already, saying that the signed contract is in Golden Boy's lawyers' hands.
