In an earlier story on BoxingScene.com, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer revealed that WBC interim-junior welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30KOs) is very interested in facing his Aregentine countryman Marcos Maidana (31-3, 28KOs) - if Maidana defeats Jesus Soto-Karass on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

BoxingScene would later speak to Sebastian Contursi, the longtime adviser to Maidana.

Contursi doesn't believe Matthysse is looking for a move to 147, and Maidana is not capable of making 140-pounds.

What Contursi proposes, if Matthysse and his management are actually serious, is a catch-weight in the middle. Contursi believes his fighter would be open to the idea of a catch-weight at 143 or 144 - with of course the right money on the table.
