Team Maidana Have No Knowledge of a Soto Defense

By Jhonny Gonzalez, notifight.com

Humberto "Zorrita" Soto announced in Mexico that he would be challenging World Boxing Association "regular" junior welterweight champion Marcos "El Chino" Maidana in the month of December, but the Argentine boxer and his team have not been provided with any confirmination or details regarding this possible defense.

A newspaper in Mexico reported that Soto would challenge Maidana on a date in December, although Team Maidana have not received any proposals for that date. For now, Team Maidana are treating it as nothing more than speculation.

Soto made his debut at 140 pounds on the 3rd of September in Los Mochis, when he stopped Nicaraguan Jose "Bankruptcy Cup" Alfaro in two rounds. For his part, Maidana fought on the 23rd of September and stopped Petr Petrov in four.
