Team Lebedev Continue To Push For Eddie Chambers

By BoxingBet.pl

It seems that team of the WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (25-1, 19 KOs) is very interested in making a fight with former heavyweight title challenger Eddie Chambers (36-3, 18 KOs). Lebedev’s promoter, Vladimir Hrunov, confirmed that he has been negotiating for several days with Kathy Duva of Main Events to secure this bout.

The Russian promoter is convinced that the fight with Lebedev won’t be any easier for Chambers than the bout against Wladimir Klitschko, which Eddie lost by knockout in March of 2010.

"Eddie Chambers said that Wladimir Klitschko is the greatest heavyweight in the history of boxing. That’s his opinion, and there is nothing wrong about that. Anyway, I can warn him that soon he will face the best cruiserweight fighter – Denis Lebedev, and this fact should be more significant for him right now. Regarding the fight, we have been currently negotiating with Chambers’ promoter, Kathy Duva,” Hrunov told boxko.ru.

Lebedev last time fought in December, brutally knocking out previously unbeaten Santander Silgado of Colombia. Chambers is inactive since June, when he lost by unanimous decision to Tomasz Adamek. After this defeat the fighter from Philadelphia decided to sign a contract with Main Events and move down to cruiserweight division.

Lebedev is good, but he can be tagged, and he isn't as fast or as accurate as Chambers. In Lebedev's last fight, he started off strong, good counterpunching, but by round 2 Silgado was catching him clean. I just don't…

Chambers and Cunningham, having both been robbed by Adamek in 2012, should fight each other.

Can Eddie Chambers use his left arm yet?
