Team Klitschko: Haye Will Have 4 To 5 Weeks To Decide
By Ruslan Chikov
WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 30 KOs) plans to have two professional fights in the first half of 2012. On February 18th in Munich, he defends the WBC crown against Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KOs). In the event of victory, Vitali could return to the ring as early as the end of May.
For his next contest, Vitali would like to fight former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, but the the two sides are very far apart on the financial terms.
"We do not know who Vitali's opponent is going to be [beyond Chisora]. We were negotiating with Haye, but most likely the fight [between Haye and] Vitali will never happen. Haye has 4-5 weeks to give us a definitive answer, otherwise we will start negotiations with other boxers," said Berndt Boente, manager of the Klitschko brothers.
I also think Vitali will get a great degree of personal statisfaction beating up Haye moreso than any other heavyweight out there at the moment.
Of course, it brings him the best payday. But lets not pretend Hate is relevant…Comment by chillpill365 on 02-13-2012
This is just another publicity stunt by Vitali to attempt to stay relevant in the boxing world. Keep mentioning Haye and the fans will retain interest. Simple as that.Comment by JAB5239 on 02-13-2012
