Gaby Peñagarícano, the legal adviser for Jose Miguel Cotto (32-3-1, 24KOs), has advised BoxingScene.com that his boxer's scheduled bout with Jose Luis Castillo (63-11-1, 54KOs) is now officially off. The fight was going to take place on Saturday at the Reliant Arena, Houston, Texas - as part of the Erik Morales-Danny Garcia undercard.

The drama first began at Friday's afternoon weigh-in, where Castillo weighed 147.75. The fight with Cotto was contracted for a catch-weight of 145-pounds.

Peñagarícano was not surprised with Castillo's inability to make weight, especially when considering the Mexican veteran's well documented history of failing to make weight. However, Cotto and his adviser were still hoping that Castillo could sweat off enough weight to make the fight possible.

But, they were shocked when Castillo showed up over two hours later and weighed in at 151.75.

"Its completely off. We are not going to play those games or [tolerate] the behavior that is damaging the sport. Its a slap in the face and a disgrace and we're not getting into it. I was not surprised at all that he came in two pounds and three-quarters over the contract limit, but you take your two hours, as always, and you try to come down, as always. I was expecting him to come down to 146 or 146 and something - and in that case it was so little that you can make an arrangement. For him to weigh 147 and three-quarters and take his two hours, wait, and then come back and weigh 151 and three-quarters..........its an insult to our intelligence. And then to expect to get paid some money to do the fight, its not happening," Peñagarícano told BoxingScene.com.
