Light heavyweight contender Isaac Chilemba's manager is not worried about the hostile Liverpool crowd when his boxer faces Tony Bellew (19-1, 12KOs) in a final WBC championship eliminator on March 30th at the Echo Arena. Chilemba (20-1-1, 9KOs) of South Africa has fought on hostile soil in the past, and won, and his manager says those victories will have him mentally prepared.
"It will be a daunting task for Isaac to face Bellew in his hometown but at the same time I know for sure that Isaac will be fine because he does not crumble under pressure," said manager Jodi Solomon to Sowetan.
"Isaac will perform at his best. He has done so before, beating Jameson Bostic (KO 2) in New Jersey on October 1, 2011, Edison Miranda on points over 10 rounds in Nevada on February 3, 2012 and Rayco Saunders on points over eight rounds at the MGM Grand in Connecticut on September 29 last year."
