According to manager Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, he will fly to Los Angeles on Tuesday for a meeting with Golden Boy executives and hopes to walk away with finalized deal for September 15th. Canelo is already in Los Angeles and sat ringside on Saturday night as Josesito Lopez upset Victor Ortiz at Staples Center.

In the last few weeks, three opponents have fallen through - Paul Williams, James Kirkland and Victor Ortiz.

The current frontrunner to face Canelo is WBA "regular" champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14KOs), who dominated Canelo's older brother Rigoberto Alvarez last year in Mexico. The fight will not longer be carried on pay-per-view, and instead the action will take place on regular Showtime.

Howvever, there are two other opponents being onsidered and one of them, according to Golden Boy, is a pay-per-view attraction.
