Dominic Ingle, the trainer of top rated welterweight Kell Brook (27-0, 18KOs), says his boxer will overcome the punching power of Carson Jones (34-8-2, 24KOs) on July 7th at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield. Ingle recognizes the big punching power of Jones, after watching tapes, but doesn't expect a problem because he feels Brook's defense will make Jones miss.
The two fighters are going to clash in a high stakes battle for a future shot at the IBF's welterweight crown.
“He’s got a good knockout percentage and even when you’re coming from behind you can turn things around with a punch,” Ingle told The Star.
“Naz got dropped by Kevin Kelley, we were in America and everybody thought he was going to get beat but Naz knew once he started connecting and got his measure, that he’d get him.
“You’ve always got to have respect for power but Kell is very good at avoiding shots. He could stand and trade with him but I won’t have him fighting that way. Carson can’t knock out what he can’t hit. Americans can always talk. They’ve all got the chatter and you tend to get it with them all.”
