Team Alexander: This Clown Randall Bailey Wasn't Ready!

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com spoke to an irate Kevin Cunningham shortly after the news broke that IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey had pulled out of his September 8th fight against Devon Alexander. Cunningham manages and trains Alexander and doesn't buy Bailey's claims of a back injury. He believes the 37 year-old fighter simply wasn't ready for the bout.

"We gave this clown everything he ask for in this deal.  We gave him the money he wanted, the date, and the site," Cunningham told BoxingScene as he pointed out that the fight was originally scheduled to take place in Alexander's hometown of St. Louis in August and that they had agreed to change the date and venue per Bailey's request.

"What does he do? Pull out a week before the fight with a lame excuse. I guess he was sparring with Kimbo Slice. The bottom line is Devon was ready to fight on August 25th and he's ready to fight on September 8th. I have my sources that tell me he wasn't ready so he pulled the old, I hurt my back excuse."

Alexander was going to shut him out anyway IMO, while his clinching annoys the hell out of most people...it is very effective against Brawlers and guys looking for KO's I would love to see Devon fight Carson Jones or what…
