Team Alexander: Kevin Bizier The Next IBF Mandatory

By Ryan Burton

Devon Alexander's trainer/manager Kevin Cunningham has advised BoxingScene.com that undefeated Kevin Bizier (20-0) is next in line to face Alexander on May 18th in Atlantic City. Bizier, who defeated Nate Campbell in February, is ranked #3 by the IBF and is the highest rated contender.

Alexander was scheduled to face the IBF's #1 contender Kell Brook but the Brit pulled out of the fight with a foot injury.

Yesterday Alexander's promoter, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, mentioned that Senchenko, Andre Berto and Shawn Porter were under consideration. This was before the IBF mandated that Alexander face the highest rated contender.

"I am told that we have to satisfy our mandatory obligation with the IBF. Kell Brook was the mandatory and the IBF's next available contender is #3 rated undefeated contender Kevin Bizier.

"As far as Devon is concerned it doesn't matter just pick a name out of the hat. He's ready for whoever on May18th," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com

Lol Kell Brook.

Bizier is tailor made for Alexander... Wouldn't even be competitive. Don't expect much better considering it'd be on short notice, but Shawn Porter or Carson Jones would be excellent replacements on short notice.
