Tavoris Cloud, Ramos vs Rigondeaux Card is Canceled

By Rick Reeno

Promoter Lou DiBella has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that Showtime's televised doubleheader for December 31st has been canceled. The show took a major hit last week when former two division champion Zsolt Erdei (33-0, 18 KOs) withdrew with a right hand injury. He was scheduled to fight IBF light heavyweight king Tavoris Cloud (23-0, 19 KOs). The promoters were unable to secure a suitable replacement who Showtime would approve. Former WBA champion Gabriel Campillo was offered, and for some reason he was rejected by the network.

WBA super bantamweight champion Rico Ramos was going to defend his title against mandatory challenger Guillermo Rigondeaux in the co-headliner. The card was being staged at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

I got a feeling that Showtime boxing is going to go down with Hershman departure....Especially since Golden Boy might be running the boxing show on Showtime now...It's going to be horrible.

Reschedule it and make it Cloud vs Sillakh and Rigo vs Ramos

Damn. Wanted to see Rigo smash Ramos. Oh well. They should re-schedule it for FEB or something. Still would like to see Rigo get shots at Donaire, Arce, Nishioka, etc.
