Japan's Yota Sato (23-2-1, 12KOs) will challenge WBC super flyweight champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (20-4-1, 7KOs) of Thailand at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on March 27, as it was announced by the Kyoei Gym. Sato, ranked at number three by the WBC, recently vacated his Japanese super flyweight crown after successfully defending it five times. The champion, who beat Mexico's Tomas Rojas to capture the title last August, returned to action in November to decision former champion Nobou Nashiro of Japan.
"It's been my dream to fight in a world title match since I was a child," the 27-year-old said. "It's a great honor to do it at Korakuen Hall, where I've fought for many years, in front of my supporters."
