World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman says a fight between WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 30KOs), and former three division king Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30KOs), is the best option for both fighters.

Golden Boy Promotions wants to make a fight between Canelo and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) for September 14th. Sulaiman feels a Mayweather fight would be too soon for Canelo. He says the young Mexican boxer needs at least two more fights before challenging Mayweather.

"It would be the best option for Canelo, because Cotto is a very dangerous fighter. [Cotto] is at a key moment of his career, where he would need to show whether or not he can continue to fight at this level. It would be the best fight for the two of them. Mayweather vs. Canelo is a fight that the entire world is waiting for, but Canelo might need a couple of more fights, because Floyd is a phenomenon and he is in the best moment of his career," Sulaiman said.

Trout landed about 50 more punches so I don't know what your idea of incredible defense is, but Alvarez damn sure didn't show i...

[QUOTE=AHUEVO]Baahahahaahaha there is the good stuff and reason why I frequent this forum. To read ridiculous comments like the one above. Arguably? Yea, if you are arguing with somebody that knows zero about boxing. Who would you have rather been, Canelo or Trout? Yea, that's what I thought....

Unless Cotto is on Manny juice, cleaned up his scar tissue and fixed his gassing out issues I would have him wiping the floor with Canelo. The problem is he hasn't fixed any of his issues and he won't be taking anything to help his stamina and chin. So... I got Canelo but not as bad of a beat dow...
