During his visit to Puerto Rico, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, supported the Judges' decision in the fight between Danny Garcia and Mauricio Herrera from April 15th in Bayamon.
Garcia, of Puerto Rican ancestry and the WBA/WBC Super lightweight champion, defeated Herrera by majority decision: 116-112, 116-112 and 114-114.
"We have reviewed the video. It was analyzed by Mexican judges who attended the WBC office, also it was checked by six international ring officials. It was determined that it was a close and very competitive fight, but Danny Garcia had won, although it seems public was not entirely convinced," Mauricio said.
"In this case Mauricio Herrera, who wasn’t the favorite, was a strong opponent and that created more expectation. I saw a very good close fight. But we consider that there was not a big controversy. Although Herrera threw more punches, the ones that landed more clearly and with more powerful impacts came from the champion."Tags: Mauricio Herrera , Danny Garcia
