The World Boxing Council (WBC) will soon issue an order to begin negotiations for the mandatory heavyweight fight between champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21KOs) and challenger Deontay Wilder (31-0, 31KOs). Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the WBC, confirmed that in the second week of August his organization will issue letters to both sides to begin negotiations. If a deal is not reached in 30-days, then a purse bid will be ordered.
"We are going to order the fight in mid-August, with a letter being sent to their promoters in order to start the process," said Sulaiman. "Once they are aware, the period of free negotiations will begin and we'll see what happens. Stiverne told us that he will be ready to fight in November or December."
