According to the World Boxing Organization, WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (41-2, 23KOs) will make a mandatory defense against British titleholder George Groves (14-0, 11KOs) on May 5th in Erfurt, Germany. The event will be promoted by Sauerland Event and SES Boxing. Last month in in Budapest, SES submitted around $800,000 to secure the promotional rights to the fight. The bout will take place on the same card as the Marco Huck-Ola Afolabi WBO cruiserweight title rematch.

Stieglitz, especially with home advantage, will be a huge test for Groves, who I can't really rate since I've only seen the DeGale-fight. Huck-Afolabi should be good, although Huck beat him already a few years ago. But now Afolabi is with the Klitschkos' K2 promotions and Vitali's trainer Frit...

Even if he wins the title and defends it against the likes of Johnson/Magee, it's still much better than what Cleverly is doing.

Think it's a step too soon for Groves if i'm being honest. He can win the Stieglitz fight, don't get me wrong, infact I think he will win it. But he'll be like Cleverley and defend it against loads of bums for 5 years, he's not ready for the Froch's, Kessler's, Bute's, Ward's etc for another 2 or...

Am shocked but Groves has nothing to lose here, and he might get up more for fights like this one, hope he pulls it off.
