Last night, Steve "USS" Cunningham stopped by ATG Radio and was asked if he would be interested in a trilogy fight with Tomasz Adamek after the controversial split decision loss in their rematch from this past Saturday on NBC. Cunningham had this to say:
"The first fight I feel that should have been at least a draw. I felt it could have went my way or I felt it could have went his way. After that 12th round bell goes, I felt either way this fight goes I am content because I did my best off of the 3 knockdowns."
"Then after they awarded him the fight, for four years that was on the back of my mind. You know after the fight I went after the rematch but didn't get it. I went on to beat Wayne Braithwaite to become his #1 contender and he vacated and went to heavyweight."
"After that I got my belt back and the Tomasz Adamek fight was in the back of my mind. We finally get the fight. My whole goal was to show the world I can beat this man and I did it! I did better than I expected actually. Then they robbed me and took the fight from me."
Now from what I hear with all of this eliminator crap going on - there may not be an immediate rematch. I did what I set out to do and beat the crap out of him. A third fight isn't even in my thought pattern right now. I beat the guy and he can't beat me but if the third fight did come up no doubt that I would take it. It would be an even bigger foot forward."
