Actor Sylvester Stallone's famous black leather jacket from 'Rocky' sold for $149,000.

Memorabilia from Stallone's top films has sold for just over $3 million at an auction.

Fans were able to bid at Heritage Auctions in Los Angeles and online, on hundreds of much coveted items from Sylvester classics such as 'Rocky', 'Rambo' and 'The Expendables'.

Stallone himself opened the auction, which saw his famous black leather jacket from 'Rocky' sell for USD 149,000, the highest bid for an individual item in the sale.

Mike Gutierrez, Heritage Auctions Consignment director: "Well, Mr. Stallone has had this material in storage for thirty/forty years, some of it. And he decided that, "Why do I have all of this hidden away, packaged and crated and I should be sharing this with the public and the fans and collectors. So, that's what he decided to do."

While he may be selling the memorabilia, Stallone is continuing the 'Rocky' series, which began in 1976, with recent theatrical debut of boxing film 'Creed' released in November. Stallone returns to the role of Rocky Balboa as a retired champion who trains and mentors Adonis Johnson, played by Michael B. Jordan. In the filme Johnson plays the son of Rocky's late friend and former rival Apollo Creed, who was killed in the fourth film of the Rocky franchise.
