The news broke yesterday that Eric Morales reportedly tested positive for Clenbuterol. USADA [United States Anti Drug Agency] informed Golden Boy Promotions, and both fighters, that there were issues with a drug test taken by Morales. It is still 100% unclear whether the Danny Garcia will defend his WBC/WBA junior welterweight titles against Morales on Saturday at the brand new Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY.  While Golden Boy's CEO Richard Schaeffer insists all parties will await the outcome of Morales' B sample, the New York State Athletic Commission has yet to weigh in on the matter.

There are conflicting reports on when the B sample will return. Some reports indicate the result will not return until after the fight, while other sources are stating that USADA will have the result back today. If the B sample comes back positive, Garcia's team may walk away from the fight.

Should Morales be scratched from the card for the irregular test and Danny Garcia is left without a dance partner, Paul “The Pittsburgh Kid” Spadafora and his team have declared themselves ready, willing, and able to take the fight on short notice.

Spadafora, who boasts an undefeated record of 46-0-1, is on the comeback trail and most recently defeated rugged veteran Humberto Toledo at the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort in West Virginia.  After defeating Toledo, Spadafora returned to the gym and has been actively training for a fight on December 1st, likely vs Solomon Egberime (22-3-1) of Las Vegas by way of Australia.

Joe Horn, attorney for Spadafora confirms he spoke late yesterday evening with Golden Boy’s David Itskowitch to make it known that Paul is available should they need a late sub for Morales.

“It’s not certain what will happen with the irregular test, and Golden Boy feels strongly that the fight will proceed…. But should Morales become unavailable, I’ve made it very clear that Paul will be on the next flight to New York to take on Garcia” said Horn, attorney for Spadafora.  “Paul is on weight, and is willing, ready, and able to take on Garcia this Saturday night.”
