Junior welterweight Lamont Peterson has reportedly tested positive for synthetic testosterone, according to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Peterson's upcoming HBO televised defense of his WBA/IBF titles, against Amir Khan on May 19th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, is now in jeopardy. Khan and Peterson had agreed, as part of their rematch terms, to take part in a random drug testing protocol.

“Peterson was found to have synthetic testosterone in his system according to tests conducted by VADA in March,” Carp said on Twitter on Monday night, citing the drug-testing agency.

Carp said VADA head Margaret Goodman declined to comment on the test, but he noted that “VADA has dropped Peterson from its client list.”

"Peterson took a random drug test in mid-March that came back positive," Carp reported. "The 'B' sample was tested at the end of April, also yielding a positive result."

Peterson’s camp provided a statement to BoxingScene.com regarding this test earlier Monday night. That, and an interview with Peterson’s publicist, can be found at this link:

If it's true what they are saying about Lamont Peterson, I hope boxing fans aren't thinking he would be the only boxer out there getting extra help in pill form. Look at the top boxers out there. They all look like mini body builders. In the last 5 or so years you can see the difference in the...
If the doctor can confirm there was a legit medical reason to give Peterson testosterone pellets then the NSAC might let the fight happen.
I don't think its that simple. I'd be shocked if the fight goes through as planned. Does anyone have any precedent on how ...
My thing is this. I'm pissed at Peterson for taking it; but I'm even more pissed at the commission for not catching this like they're suppose to do back in December before the fight. If this was the first time I heard about someone beating this commission based test, t...
