Skoglund Vows To Smash D'Agata To Bits in Esbjerg

The war of words has begun as Erik Skoglund (19-0, 10 KOs) and Danilo D'Agata (12-1-1, 3 KOs) prepare to do battle for the EU Light Heavyweight Title at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg on April 12th.

‘’Butterflies, bees or Italian boxers, I will smash anything that gets in my way,’’ said Skoglund in response to D’Agata’s assertion that he would ‘’float like a butterfly and sting like bee’’ when the pair meet at Blue Water Dokken.

The reigning champion has returned from a training camp with WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Juergen Braehmer in Gustrow, Germany, to complete his final weeks of training in Berlin.

Having seen the comments made by D’Agata in the build up to the fight, Skoglund has taken this opportunity to address his Italian opponent.

‘’D’Agata may believe that he has done everything he can to make sure he brings the title back to Italy with him, but I can assure him that whatever he has done, it will not be enough.

‘’I have been in this situation before. In my ninth professional fight I fought an Italian boxer Alberto Antenucci. He was as sure as D’Agata that he could stop me, and he couldn’t. Last year I fought another former Italian champion Lorenzo Di Giacomo. He was a tough guy with over fifty fights. He tried to stop me, but it wasn’t even close.

‘’The truth is, I've fought tougher opponents before, more than once. I'm still unbeaten and my plan is to remain that way. The only way D’Agata would have a chance is if I would help him out. I can promise, I am not going to help this guy steal my belt.

‘’He has told me to enjoy my final days as champion! He may have enjoyed each and every day he was Italian Champion before he lost the belt, but I don’t work that way. I won’t enjoy any day until I am world champion! Right now, he is standing in my way!’’
