Sirimongkol Singwancha Stops Esparas in Three

by Ronnie Nathanielsz

Another Filipino boxers has been knocked out in a blatant mismatch by a former world two division champion.

Ronnel “Tarver” Esparas was knocked out in the third round by Thailand’s Sirimongkol Singwancha in a WBC Asia Boxing Council Continental welterweight title fight at the 13 Coins Resort in Bangkok.

The Thai who was a former WBC bantamweight and later featherweight champion entered the ring with a record of 73-2 with 45 knockouts while Esparas who at 23 years of age was 13 years younger than Sirimongkol had a miserable record of 10-11-1 with 2 knockouts.

The southpaw was ranked No. 6 super lightweight in the latest ratings of the Games and Amusements Board and No. 15 by the WBC Asian Boxing Council while Sirimongkol was the reigning champion.

The loss was the fourth consecutive loss by Esparas with two of them by knockout once again raising questions as to how the GAB could sanction such a bout.
