According to Sowetan, super bantamweight Simphiwe "Golden Master" Nongqayi (16-2-1, 6KOs), 38-years-old, is walking away from boxing after a financial disagreement with his promoter, Branco Milekonvic. The boxer was unhappy with the amount of money he was offered for an upcoming undercard bout.
"I'm retiring from boxing because it has become clear to me that my promoter doesn't value me anymore," Nongqayi said. "It's really unbearable when a promoter indirectly tells you that you are no longer wanted by offering you less money even though he got millions from the government."
Milenkovic responded to the claims, stating that Nongqayi was offered an above average sum for an eight round bout, but he doesn't disagree with the fighter's decision to retire - stating how the boxer was knocked out in his last two fights and winless since 2009.
