It appears that WBA "regular" cruiserweight champion Beibut Shumenov (17-2, 11 KOs) and challenger Yunier Dorticos (21-0, 20 KOs), who holds the WBA interim-cruiserweight title, is heading to a date of April 29 in Las Vegas.

Dorticos, who is promoted by Caribe Promotions with Warriors Boxing, was worried that he would never get the chance to get Shumenov in the ring. The World Boxing Association ordered the two boxers to face each other as the sanctioning body continues their efforts in tackling the issue of multiple champions in each division. Denis Lebedev is the WBA's "super champion" at the weight.

"We are very pleased that we have been able to finish everything necessary for this fight to take place," said Luis DeCubas, Chief Executive of Warriors Boxing, to George Ebro. "We hope the world can see the talent of Dorticos against a formidable opponent and in a historic fight for boxing."

Undoubtedly, it was not easy to get Shumenov to agree to face Cuban. The negotiations have been dragging out since the fight was ordered last year and a purse bid was held on November 14 in Panama.

Shumenov and his team accused the Cuban's camp of failing to take the necessary steps to bring the event to a successful conclusion, but Warriors Boxing emerged in the corner of Dorticos and managed to get everything in order

Last May in Paris, Dorticos blasted out Youri Kalenga in a final eliminator to get in position to fight Shumenov.

"I still can not say anything about the television, because it's something we're still discussing," DeCubas added. "But we're not going to let this title fight go [without TV], because this is a huge opportunity for the world to appreciate Dorticos."

According to DeCubas, in the long run the ultimate goal for Dorticos - once he is able to overcome Shumenov - would be to seek a clash against Russia's Murat Gassiev, who holds the title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
