Showtime's Espinoza: November 17th Date is Still Open
By Rick Reeno
Showtime’s Executive Vice President of sports and event programming, Stephen Espinoza, advised BoxingScene.com that his network does not have a deal in place with any promotional company - Golden Boy Promotions, TMT Promotions or otherwise - for the date of November 17th.
"Naturally, as part of the course of conduct I have a variety of different discussions with various promoters. In general, I don't like to disclose the specifics of any of those discussions publicly. What I can say is that I have no deal in place with any promoter for any event on November 17th," Espinoza told BoxingScene.com.
BoxingScene reported over the weekend that TMT Promotions were looking to stage their first event on the date of November 17th, on Showtime. The newly formed company, run by rapper turned promoter 50 Cent, is looking to do a doubleheader featuring Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16KOs) and Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14KOs).
However, BoxingScene was later advised that Golden Boy was also looking to stage a Showtime televised event on November 17th.
While both parties have had discussions with the network, Espinoza makes it clear that neither promoter, or any other party, has a finalized deal for the previously mentioned November date.
"I've had discussions with both of them about [that date] and other dates. But there is nothing finalized with either of those promoters or any other promoter for an event on November 17th," Espinoza said.

If Showtime goes with the GBP card, than HBO should jump all over having Gamboa-Salgado and Dirrell-Magee with a Pac replay. There will be interest in it being TMT's first show alone, as well as Gamboa's return.Comment by Cubanborn87 on 08-21-2012
this espinoza guy is gbp affiliated, i expect gbp to get the date. But the TMT card looks great, i hope they buy itComment by Cubanborn87 on 08-21-2012
[QUOTE=CommanderVander;12442312]Agreed that the frst TMT show is going to be a HUGE deal. HBO will go all out to try and stage this card. They will do a broadcast triple header with Gamboa, Dirrell, and the Pacquiao replay. And probably…Comment by badnewsbrown on 08-21-2012
