| Shaw: Martinez vs Angulo, The Fight is Not Even Close
|
|
By Rick Reeno BoxingScene.com was advised by Gary Shaw, promoter of junior middleweight Alfredo Angulo, that deal to fight Sergio Martinez on July 9 in Mexico is "not even close." The two sides have discussed a possible meeting but they are "too far apart on the money," according to Shaw. Last year, Martinez's promoter Lou DiBella tried to make a fight with Angulo, who at the time turned down an offer of $750,000. The Mexican junior middleweight was later hit with a serious visa problem which is preventing him from fighting in the United States. Shaw would not disclose the purse being offered, but he says the figure is "substantially less" than the $750K that was offered las year. "We are so far apart that there's nothing to talk about," Shaw told BoxingScene.com. Tags: Sergio Martinez , Alfredo Angulo |

I think Angulo wants to be paid well if he a) he is going to fight and most likely get beat by Martinez and b) fight at weight (middleweight) which he might not be comfortable at. Maybe Martinez would move down to 154 lbs however he is the man now and against anyone not named Mayweather or Pacqui... |
Perro is the Interim WBO light middleweight champ. He's been ranked #1 in the WBC since JULY. Just so El Canelo can beat a WW and win that tittle.
Belts are given not earned. You can hold two belts and it won't mean **** unless you fight who you have to fight.
I really hope ... |
So then why don't Martinez fight somebody who is interested in fighting him like Pirog?
There are other fighters who are interested in fighting him who have more than 1 fighter on their resume you can name off the top of your head. |
Your right.
Angulo quit before the fight.
Angulo got quitting down to an art form.
Pricing yourself fairly?
Most money in his career!
That's more then he deserves.
You can put the word quit all you want next to Angulo's name but it just won't compute.
