Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs was not too impressed with Deontay Wilder's title winning effort on January 13th, when he captured the WBC heavyweight championship with a twelve round unanimous decision victory over Bermane Stiverne. Wilder knocked out all 32 of his previous opponents in four rounds or less.

Briggs hopes to face WBO/IBF/WBA/IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko in the fall - should Klitschko retains his belts in April against Bryant Jennings.

"He's OK [Wilder], but Vitali [Klitschko] vacated the title, then [Chris] Arreola and Stiverne fought for a vacated title," said Briggs to Steve Bunce's podcast. "But who said they were the two supposed to fight for a title? The guy [Wilder] was 32-0, as soon as he fought one guy that could actually fight, it went 12 rounds. I'm not knocking the guy, but I will knock him out."
