According to sources in the Russian media with sufficient knowledge of the current situation, former WBO heavyweight champion of the world Shannon Briggs (51-6-1, 45 KOs) will be back in the ring on December 17 at Crocus City Hall in Myakinino, Moscow, Russia. The name of his opponent will be announced during next few days.

Briggs got the WBO heavyweight title in November 2006 beating Siarhei Liakhovich, but lost the belt in the next fight losing by unanimous decision to Sultan Ibragimov. Almost 41-years old “The Cannon” has been out of boxing since his loss to the current WBC champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs) in October of 2010.

In the main event of the Moscow show, WBA World cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (24-1, 18 KOs) will defend his title against Santander Silgado (23-0, 18 KOs) of Colombia.
