Nobody was more upset over Wladimir Klitschko's shocking upset defeat than former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs.
Klitschko was upset, losing his WBA/IBO/IBF/WBO heavyweight titles to Tyson Fury via unanimous decision in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Briggs had spent the last two years chasing Klitschko all over the world. The former champion crashed press conferences, open workouts and he even unexpectedly showed up a few times to confront Klitschko in public areas.
Earlier this week, the Brooklyn-born fighter was telling reporters that a deal to fight Klitschko was finally getting close for 2016.
If those negotiations were indeed taking place, they went down in flames with Fury's stunning win. Both Fury and Klitschko are already getting prepared to face each other in a rematch in 2016. Klitschko had a rematch clause in the bout agreement and intends to exercise that option.
Briggs was not impressed with the in-ring action.
"Terrible. Horrible. Sloppy. Nothing to be proud of. This is exactly why boxing need Shannon Briggs. They where holding and grabbing, not throwing punches. Two doofuses scared of each other. No hunger. No desperation. Fury beat me to him. Let's see if he pulls a Beyonce Wilder and gets easy no names," Briggs voiced on the social networks.
