This coming Saturday night, World Boxing Council middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4-0, 32 KOs) will face Australia's Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Both fighters took part in the WBC's seven day weigh-in, and both are within the weight stipulations. The WBC closely monitors the boxers weight for safety and health reasons.
Cotto weighed in at 163.6-pounds, while Geale was heavier at 167.5-pounds.
There is a catch-weight in place of 157-pounds. The division limit is 160-pounds.
This will be Cotto´s first defence of the title he conquered after defeating Argentinian, Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez last June at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Promoter Gary Shaw clarified to BoxingScene.com that Geale's 30-day weight, released by the WBC as 158, was inaccurate. He said 'no chance' he was 158-pounds 30 days ago.
