Unbeaten heavyweight Seth Mitchell will fight Mike Mollo in San Jose’s HP Pavilion as the co-feature to the Aug. 27 showdown between Marcos Maidana and Robert Guerrero, per several sources including the fighter himself.

"They talked about Michael Grant, but it's definitely going to be Mike Mollo now," Mitchell told this writer earlier today via phone.

With only four years of boxing experience under his belt, Mitchell (22-0-1, 17 KOs) of Brandywine, Md., has reeled off 20 consecutive wins, with the last seven coming inside the distance and five within the first two rounds.  The former Michigan State linebacker is coming off a first-round knockout of Evans Quinn in his Showtime debut.

Mollo (20-3-1, 12 KOs), of Oak Lawn, Ill., is coming off a majority draw with Gary Gomez last August.  Five months before the Gomez fight, Mollo earned a unanimous decision win against Billy Zumbrun, which is the only victory in his last four outings.

Mitchell is trained by Andre Hunter. He is managed by Sharif Salim, and as of February, added well-connected advisor Al Haymon to his team.

Neither Mitchell’s promoter Golden Boy nor HBO Boxing has confirmed whether the bout will be televised in its entirety on the network before Guerrero-Maidana.
But they wouldn't have something like Wach-McBride on HBO, now would they?
Wach & McBride aren't Americans. Plus it's an undercard, not a main event.

Mike Mollo is a way better opponent then any of Deontay Wilder's opponents. So atleast Mitchell is fighting opponents who can fight back.
What a horrible mismatch. Why is this on HBO? The should have Mitchell fight someone who will test him a bit, like Kevin Johnson or Michael Grant.
too be honest tunney mollo isnt that bad.i got few of his fights & he's a tough guy.he's like jason gavern but will throw mo...

This really isnt that bad a fight for Mitchell he is still inexperinced. If he does well against Mollo he can fight someone like Johnson then try for Arreola and then he could fight in a title eliminator, he is on track for his aim of fighting for a title within 18 months imo.
