Sergio Martinez Tells The WBC: I Want Chavez or Zbik

By Jhonny Gonzalez

Sergio Martinez arrived in Mexico City to receive his Diamond title from the World Boxing Council (WBC) President Jose Sulaiman. Martinez won the title last Saturday night with a knockout victory of Sergiy Dzinzurik. Martinez took some time out to assist the WBC with their anti-bullying campaign. He went to a private school in Santa Fe, accompanied by WBC VP Mauricio Sulaiman, where he shared his experiences, his beginning in professional boxing and talked about the anti-bullying campaign in schools.

Martinez is planning to fight on July 9. Sulaiman told reporters that his fight is possibly going to happen in Mexico against junior middleweight Alfredo Angulo. Sulaiman said there are other names mentioned like Andy Lee, Darren Barker and Peter Manfredo Jr.

The champion did tell Sulaiman that he wants the winner of the June clash between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik of Germany. Zbik became the WBC champion after Martinez vacated the title to take a rematch with Paul Williams.
mayweather doesn't make excuses he makes retirements.
Yeah, him retiring is weak but since Floyd is out of the picture, we should atleast have Manny Pacquiao fighting the best guys while he is active but it just ain't happening.
