BoxingScene caught up with middleweight king Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez who was in Las Vegas to watch Manny Pacquiao defeat Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand. Martinez told BoxingScene that he hopes to face the winner of the Julio Cesar Chavez versus Sebastian Zbik WBC middleweight bout that takes place on June 4th.

"I was the WBC champion (now the WBC emeritus champion). I was told that I get to face the winner between Chavez and Zbik."

After dispatching of former middleweight king Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams, Martinez has had trouble landing a big fight. The middleweight division is barren of star power and some if the bigger names at junior middleweight and welterweight have been reluctant to step up to face Martinez.

Martinez revealed to BoxingScene that he is looking to return to 154 pounds because of theses difficulties hew has faced at landing big fights in the middleweight division.

"I am looking to go back to junior middleweight because there aren't a lot of opportunities at middleweight.  There are a lot more fights at 154."

Bob Arum recently told BoxingScene that he may have Chavez Jr. face Miguel Cotto in September. This confirms Martinez's frustrations with landing a big fight.

Martinez wasn't sure if his HBO ring return on October 1st would come at 160 or 154 pounds.
