| Sergio Martinez: Mayweather is The Best, But I Beat Him!
|
|
By Jhonny Gonzalez WBC middleweight champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (50-2-2, 28KOs) is still targeting a possible fight with the boxer he considers to be the pound-for-pound best, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather is the WBA champion at junior middleweight. Martinez would still move down to 154-pounds to make a deal for a Mayweather fight. "He is certainly the best. But this does not mean that I won't win if I confront him. I want that fight more than anything else," Martinez said. Martinez recently captured the title from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He says a rematch with Chavez would probably be his next title defense at middleweight, but he still stands firm on having Chavez accept his terms for a pre-fight Olympic drug testing system - if the match takes place at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. "My next opponent for the title is probably Chavez," Martinez said. Tags: Sergio Martinez |
Martinez is just plain silly; no way he beats mayweather. None of that putting hands down sheeit with mayweather. Martinez isn't even De La Hoyas caliber when DLH was at his best and DLH put it on Mayweather.

I can't believe that people are still on this "Mayweather is scared of Pacquaio, Mayweather ducks tough fights, Pac is greater than Mayweather" nonsense. People, Pac has arguably lost his last two fights. Personally, I had him losing 7-5 to JMM and winning 7-5 against Bradley. Bu... |
The best? At what? Certainly its not boxing after Cotto beat his ass and got robbed.
The same Cotto that Pac destroyed easily and made do the moonwalk for half the fight
And actually the version that Pac fought was closer to prime

Mayweather was already a big ww star when Williams was making waves in and around that division. This fight was talked about before Oscar, so Floyd, while a big name in and around 147, was not a house hold super star. There can be no excuses for the fight not happening.[/QU... |
