The WBC's Emeritus and Diamond champion at middleweight, Sergio "Maravilla" Martínez, is looking forward to securing his next opponent for October 1, the probable date for his next ring appearance on HBO in the United States and TyC Sports in Argentina. Martinez would like to face WBA middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. but he doesn't see the fight happening.

During an interview with BoxingScene.com's Carlos Irusta, Martinez threw out the names of a few possibilities for the fall, including Daniel Geale and Darren Barker. Geale, the IBF middleweight champion with a record of 25-1, 15 KOs, recently upset Sebastian Sylvester to win the crown in Germany. Barker, a rising European star with an unbeaten 23-0, 14 KOs record, has been calling for the big opportunites like Martinez.

"These are the names that are now start to ring out," Martinez said.
