The Diamond middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Sergio Martinez, wants to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. and he's willing to do everything in his power to get the fight done. Martinez agrees with Mayweather's position on random drug testing. Mayweather refuses to face any opponent unless they agree to go through an Olympic-style drug testing protocol. Mayweather faces WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz on September 17 and Martinez takes on Darren Barker on October 1.
"At all costs, I want a fight with Mayweather. For me, Mayweather is the best fighter out there and that's the fight I want. I support [Mayweather's position] to improve the antidoping system [in boxing]. We should analyze the blood of everyone. As athletes we must be clean and healthy on the day of the competition," Martinez told Sal Rodriguez.
