WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) expects to return to the ring in "March or April 2014." Martinez, 38-years-old, last fought on April 27th in Argentina, when he retained his title with a twelve round unanimous decision over unbeaten British contender Martin Murray. During the match Martinez suffered several injuries and needs the necessary time to fully recover.

Martinez told Tiempo Sports that he might retire after two more fights, because of a promise that he made to his mother. In terms of future opponents, Martinez doesn't rule out anything but he named former three division champion "Miguel Cotto" (37-4, 30KOs) as one possible option.
That's what happens when getting medical treatment in Argentina -- you get one year and a half out... because Martinez was still injured during the Murray fight... What a pity this great fighter will never receive the proper payday he deserved...
his knee operation an...
