WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28KOs) does not expect to secure a fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, the undefeated WBC champion at 154-pounds.

Martinez, coming off a dominating performance against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., wants to return in late April or early May of next year. He would like to fight Canelo and then stage a fall rematch with Chavez Jr. To make the fight happen, Martinez is willing to move down to 154-pounds, but he doesn't expect Canelo to accept the challenge.

Martinez is well aware of the unbeaten boxer's options. He predicts Canelo will fight former three division champion Miguel Cotto - if the Puerto Rican star is able to defeat WBA "regular" champ Austin Trout on December 1 in New York.

"Canelo has better and safer offers. After what happened to [Chavez] Junior, logic would tell me that he'll fight Cotto [because] there is less risk and more money," Martinez said.

[QUOTE=Rompeboca]Shut your mouth! To say Canelo is a bigger name that Cotto is either stupidity or blind fanaticism on your behalf! Cotto fights in NY most of the time cuz that's where his biggest fan base is. If Cotto was to fight in Mexico today, he would sell every single seat in the arena fas...

Cotto just has the New York and vicinity area, Puerto Rico, and maybe if some fans fly to Vegas. Canelo has California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Col...

[QUOTE=GRUSTLER]The funny thing about it is that Golovkin KO'd one guy in the States that no one ever heard of in dominate fashion but all of a sudden he is a threat to someone who is just all around dominate in Sergio Martinez. It's easy together look good against guys who don't have the proper...
