| Sergio Martinez To Exercise Immediate Shot at Chavez Jr.
|
|
By Rick Reeno BoxingScene.com has been advised by promoter Lou DiBella that Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs) will exercise his right, as the WBC's Emeritus champion at 160, to secure an immediate shot at the sanctioning organization's new middleweight champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30KOs). Martinez sat ringside on Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles, and watched Chavez decision Sebastian Zbik to win the WBC crown. Martinez had advised BoxingScene several weeks ago that he was going to push for an immediate shot at the Chavez-Zbik winner. Tags: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr , Sergio Martinez |

Let's see what michael marley and freddie roach have to say about this match up.
"chavez jr is too green for sergio".
Just fucking admit it already, sergio is just too good for any top rank fighter. Stop with the excuses.

Cotto will get the first crack, or at least Arum will try to push for him to. I'm sure Martinez will get his hands on Chavez in Chavez' next 3 fights, but it won't be right away. Now that he finally has a belt, Arum will try to feed him an opponent or 2.
