Sergio Martinez Brings Back Anber For Cotto Clash

By Miguel Rivera

WBC middleweight champion Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) has brought back experienced coach Russ Anber to his corner, after a near two year absence. Martinez is putting his corner together for the upcoming defense against former three division champion Miguel Angel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) on June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Anber will be in charge of wrapping Martinez's hands. He was absent from Martinez's corner for the fights with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in 2012 and Martin Murray in 2013. Martinez suffered a left hand injury in the Murray bout and wants to avoid suffering any type of injury against Cotto.

Martinez's team includes Gabriel and Pablo Sarmiento, Dr. Raquel Bordon and Dr. Roger Anderson, of Oxnard, California. Everyone other than Gabriel Sarmiento will travel over for the fight.

"Finally, Anber returns to the corner of 'Maravilla,'" said the fighter's adviser, Sampson Lewkowicz, to Carlos Narvaez. "He is the best when it comes to hands. He is a very good coach, and I think there is nobody better than him. During the time he was with us, Sergio's hands never hurt him."

[QUOTE=thatdudespits;14367089]How does fighting aggressively play into Martinez's hands? What In history shows that Martinez handles pressure well? The only guy to really get aggressive on Sergio was Williams who gave him his toughest fight at 160, and Williams fought sloppily.…

[QUOTE=Fantasiabruja;14367011]Manny here talk about the Trout fight like if that is the one and only fight that has defined Cotto. Go back and have another look Cotto was bloated in that fight and in recent interviews Pedro Diaz has hinted…

[QUOTE=ColdBlooded;14367034]If Cotto fights more aggressively than he did against Trout, that will play into Martinez's hands. And it seems that will be Cotto's strategy, based on his last fight and what Roach has been saying. Cotto is too reliant on…
