Senchenko-Malignaggi: Union Boxing Drops Massive Bid

By Hilmar Rojas

Ukrainian promotional company Union Boxing Promotions won today's scheduled purse bid at the WBA's offices in Panama, with respect to their boxer Vyacheslav Senchenko, the WBA's welterweight champion. Senchenko has to face his mandatory challenger Paul Malignaggi. The purse bid was led by Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, the Executive Vice President of the WBA. Union offered $1,000,010 - far exceeding the $250,000 submitted by Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya. Senchenko-Malignaggi will take place in Donetsk, Ukraine on April 27, 28 or 29.
