Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, without any prodding, mentioned the possibility of a fight between WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Since they are two of the most popular fighters from Mexico, it would figure to do well at the box office and on pay-per-view. Schaefer has already spoken with Chavez's promoter, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, about staging the fight in early 2012.

"I actually had a conversation about three weeks ago with (Chavez's promoter) Bob Arum and we were discussing a potential fight between Saul and Chavez Jr. for sometime in the first quarter of next year," Schaefer said.

"And Bob, I think, is going to be coming back from his overseas trip sometime this week and we are planning to sit down in the coming weeks just to have some preliminary discussions. So there's going to be big fights on the horizon for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez."
It will be called "Battle of the overhyped mexican bums" hopefully the loser is weeded out and becomes irrelevent
This fight should be titled "who sucks less"

in my opinion canelo would be game for the fight and julio or arum would back out.i think alvarez is serious about being a great mexican champ.

They are both hot right now so make this fight happen Bob Arum .Don't let it go to waste like Gamboa vs Lopez. They should have the fight on Cinco De Mayo weekend or the 16th of september weekend and all the mexicans will call in not to go into work that day and it will sell a lot on Pay Per View...
