Schaefer: 90% Chance of Garcia vs. Matthysse on 9/7

By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has no intention of waiting any longer. He wants to make a junior welterweight showdown between WBA/WBC champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) and mandatory challenger Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32KOs) on September 7th.

"We are not marinators. I am not into marinating stuff. That's another company, that's not us. I can tell you that when you have the best fight the best - there are no losers.  So if Garcia loses to Matthysse or Matthysse loses to Garcia - you know it's going to be a hell of a fight, because Lucas Matthysse...who can beat him? But Danny Garcia is one of the most underrated champions that we have [in boxing]. People doubt him in every fight and in every fight he delivers big. Never count Danny Garcia out," Schaefer told

Schaefer says the probability of the fight coming off is very high.

"I would bet on it. If you asked me for my percentage, I would say 90-10 [that it happens]," Schaefer said.
