Saul Alvarez Sparring With Gennady Golovkin For Rhodes
By Alfredo Jaime Gomez, notifight.com
WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is sparring hard for his upcoming defense, scheduled for the 18th of June against Ryan Rhodes in Guadalajara, Mexico. Alvarez is currently sparring with middleweight contender Craig McEwan and hard punching WBA "regular" middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin. Alvarez is training in the mountains of Big Bear, California.
Manager José "Chepe" Reynoso said: "Everything is going very well. He works hard and it's an excellent atmosphere. He's sparring every third day for seven rounds with two sparring partners: Gennady Golovkin, the WBA champion, and the Scottish boy. He runs at eight o'clock for 40 minutes around Big Bear Lake. We are in a comfortable cottage with three bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and it has all of the amenities and the gym is only a few steps away. We really feel very comfortable. Alvarez is throwing very hard and he's going to arrive at 100% for his fight with Rhodes."
Canelo's sparring partners are tougher than the opponent he's fighting.Comment by lopez36 on 05-13-2011

WAR CANELO!!! He needs to continue to grow and improve. Hopefully this tough fight can launch him into a new stratosphere. An impressive performance can win over some of the fans who think hes a circus act.Comment by hvirk on 05-13-2011

I think Rhodes will give Canelo a proper test. We'll find out if really is something special or not.Post a Comment - View More User Comments (13)
