Unless a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is put on the table, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) is possibly going to make the next defense of his WBC junior middleweight title on April 21st.
According to Chepo Reynoso, Canelo's manager, there have been discussions with Golden Boy's Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez about staging a fight on April 21, and there are two possible opponents being mentioned - James Kirkland (30-1, 27KOs) and former three division world champion Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs).
Kirkland has a fight scheduled for January 28th against Carlos Molina. Mosley has been inactive since losing a twelve round unanimous decision to Manny Pacquiao earlier this year.
