Kalle Sauerland, the promoter of the WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, has attacked the unified champion Wladimir Klitschko for requesting a voluntary title defense for April 6th, and not going forward with an ordered fight against Povetkin. BoxingScene.com reported on Wednesday that the WBA issued an order that granted Wladimir's request for a voluntary defense. Wladimir [or the winner of the April fight] will still have to face Povetkin by the end of July, according to the WBA's order.

"I can not wait to see which big name Klitschko will pull out of the ground to hold a fight with in April. Mormeck, Wach or Thompson may be next. Klitschko should make a third fight against Tony Thompson - it will be a memorable trilogy. Think about it, the TV channel HBO might be interested in a pay-per-view -  'Klitschko-Mormeck II - The Revenge.' I heard Vitali called [51-year-old] Frank Bruno and [48-year-old] Glenn McCrory is also on the list," Kalle said.

"Their recent opponents are horrifying: Mormeck, Charr, Thompson, Wach, Sosnowski. How old is Briggs? Lewis and Haye - two good names for the last 20 years. All of the other opponents were carefully selected or were not at their peak. Povetkin, Pulev and Helenius are located high on the rankings, and they are better than the corpse which Klitschko will choose. But as usual in boxing - time will tell."
