| Sauerland: Holyfield is Only One Option For Povetkin
|

By Ruslan Chikov Promoter Wilfried Sauerland, the owner of Sauerland Event, has responded to the recent rumors that heavyweight Alexander Povetkin will make the first defense of his WBA "regular" title against former four time champion Evander Holyfield on December 17th in Zurich. Sauerland disputed the report but not entirely. He says Holyfield is only one of the many options that his company is exporing for Povetkin''s first defense, and Zurich is one of several locations being considered to host the champion's next fight. Sauerland's company is currently holding discussions with several possible candidates. "Iin reality [Evander Holyfield] is only one of the options under consideration. We are negotiating with several potential opponents, and executives of several arenas. I think the final decision on this issue will be made in the next 10 to 14 days," Sauerland told Alexander Pavlov. No doubt they have other great contenders like Rahman or Valuev should Holyfield be unavailable :thinkerg: I wouldn't even be surprised if they pulled Ruiz out of retirement and gave him another shot. |
