Sasso Lopez, Chicano Cotto Win Bouts in Caguas

Caguas, Puerto Rico - Super featherweight prospect and the new WBC's CABOFE champion Edgardo "Sasso" Lopez (8-0-1, 4KO's) overcome his biggest test by having a unanimous decision win over previously unbeaten Alvin Torres in an eight round bout as part of Miguel Cotto Promotions and Hector Soto's H2 Entertainment "Boxeo Boricua" series in WAPA 2 Deportes.

Sasso outpointed the tough Torres who was always going forward. Torres had his best round at the end of the fight but couldn't finish Lopez.

"I am very very happy with this great victory. I said I was going to beat him and I did it. Torres is tough fighter with heavy hands but I use my intelligence to maintain my game plan," Sasso said after the fight.

In other results; super flyweight prospect Jose "Chiquiro" Martinez had his biggest win over Jiovannie Fuentes by unanimous decision.

"I was ready for him, he is a very experienced fighter. Bur we came here to win no matter the way it was" Chiquiro Martinez said.

In the heavyweight clash between local sensation Carlos "Chicano" Cotto and Jimmy Suarez ended in a disqualification. Suarez began landing ilegal blows and did not follow the warnings by referee in charge Luis Pabon. Carlos "Chicano" Cotto improves his record to 5-0, 4KO's.

José "Wonder Boy" Lopez (10-0, 8Ko's) scored a third round KO over ring veteran Juan G. Cruz. Charlie "Liltle Giant" Clemente (4-0, 2Ko's) finished previously unbeaten Joel Collazo. Yomar "The Magic" Alamo scored a 1st round KO over Luis Ortiz. Christian Rivera got his 4 fourth victory over Luis Guzman, Irvint Torres outpoint Gadiel Andaluz in a 6 round fight and Antonio Ortiz win his pro-debut fight against Roberto Rivera.

If Torres had thrown more Sasso would've been knocked out, but he hung in there and got the win.
